Connections to Other Events
There are many modern day genocides that are forgotten and ignored by many people. There have been several genocides that have happened in the past decades that have not made a deep impact in the day to day lives of the American people. Sympathy is lost for these people because were have unfortunately not tried to make a connection to these people and to understand them better. Places like Uganda had a genocide were hundreds of thousands were tortured and slain, and many people had no idea of the events taking place in that area.
Uganda
In the late 1980's, Uganda was in civil war. To mend the lack of soldiers for this civil war, the Ugandan government decided to take the children of Uganda and force them to become soldiers This does have a similar connection to the children that the German's took away from their parents to be part of Hitler's "Master Race". The German's also took the children of Jews away from their parents to stay in the concentration camps while the parents were either gassed or also put into the camp. Joseph Kony, Uganda's Lord's Resistance Army leader, and Adolf Hitler also have a connection to one another. Both Kony and Hitler had an extreme thirst for power and would move and kill anything that could possibly stand in their way.
